I'm not going to lie this is a really dry topic (yeah I went there). I wasn't quite sure how to tackle fire ratings without boring everyone to tears, so I'm going to keep this really simple for everyone's benefit, but mostly just mine.
If you take a deep dive into fire ratings for UK tub chairs and furniture it gets very technical, very quickly. With British Standard numbers and hazard ratings for different environments, etc. If you're anything like me, all that is very likely to send you to sleep. So I'm going to keep this brief and just cover the three types of fire hazard locations and what they mean for you as a customer.
Depending on where you're planning to use your tub chair, or other furniture, you should be able to identify what affects you fairly easily, so lets get cracking.
1. Low hazard locations
Low Hazard locations include;
- Your Home
- Offices
- Receptions
- Schools
- Colleges
- Universities
- Museums
- Exhibitions
- Day Centres
So...literally everything on our site is suitable from a fire rating point of view, you can stop reading right now and get shopping already!. That will cover the majority of you, I'm sure. If you're buying for a commercial location not listed above, then please keep reading as the next section is likely to be relevant to you.
2. Medium hazard locations
Medium Hazard locations include;
- Hotels
- Hotel Bedrooms
- Restaurants
- Pubs
- Bars
- Casinos
- Hospitals
- Hostels
- Public Buildings
- Public Entertainment Venues
- Public Halls
- Services' Messes
- Doctors Waiting Rooms
- Dentist Waiting Areas
- Golf Clubs
- Airports
If you're planning on using your tub chair in any of the locations listed here, you will need slightly more stringent requirements, essentially it will need to be Crib 5 Rated. On our shopping pages on the left hand side listed in our filters you will see an option you can select under the heading Fire Ratings called "Crib 5 - Medium Fire Hazard", if you select that everything that comes up will be suitable for you. Alternatively you can just click here like a normal person to view all suitable crib 5 tub chairs.
3. High hazard locations
High Hazard locations include;
- Some specific hospital and hostel locations
- Prisons
- Offshore locations such as oil rigs
If you're planning on using your tub chair in any of the locations listed here, you will need a crib 7 rated cover, we don't have anything suitable available for these locations currently. We are looking into options though.
